The members of Flatlander’s Mess welcome you to our site. We are a group of Civil War re-enactors from Southwest Georgia and North Florida who want to bring a bit more realism and authenticity into our impressions and into the hobby as well. We were bored with the usual tent cities and corndog festivals which are associated with most battle ”re-enactments” and to put it simply, this just isn't the way the average soldier experienced the war. We wanted to put more emphasis on campaigning and portraying the life of the average Union and Confederate soldier as well as Civilians.
We choose not to recreate any specific unit but instead focus on portraying the average western theater Union or Confederate soldiers and occasionally other theaters as well as Civilians. This hobby is a continual learning process. We realize that we can never truly experience the full measure of a civil war soldier.  However we think our ancestors deserve better than the usual weekend warrior routine.

If you like what you see then please feel free to write us and email . We are always looking for new comrades to join us. Thanks again for visiting; we hope to hear from you soon.

Your Obedient Servants,
The Flatlander's Mess
